Kobzar workshop
The therapeutic-artistic project „Kobzar Workshop“ is a joint innovative activity of rehabilitation specialists and artists aimed at restoring the psycho-emotional and physical state of defenders and their family members through their acquisition of new meanings and the formation of a system of sustainable values by incorporating them into the kobzar-lyrny tradition.
The purpose of the project.
The synergy of art and medicine, aimed at obtaining a unique experience in the field of rehabilitation of military personnel, veterans and their families. In a global sense, we see this as the return of the kobza to the hands of the warriors, from whom it came to us from ancient times. Using the heritage of the kobza-lyrny tradition in the rehabilitation of military personnel and veterans is both about restoring the psycho-emotional state and physical functions of a person who is a defender of the Ukrainian State, and about national identity, meaning and continuity of generations.
Project mission:
Returning vital forces and a thirst for life to our defenders through the continuation of the kobzar-lyrny tradition in Ukraine. It is symbolic that the project uses, among other things, wood brought by our soldiers from the front - thus it receives a new life in our instruments. Despite everything - life goes on!

The result of the implementation of this project is an innovative approach to the rehabilitation of military personnel and veterans in the process of making authentic Ukrainian kobzar instruments, which has no analogues yet.
- During the implementation of this project, we:
- We will develop and present to the medical community and the general public an innovative methodology for using occupational therapy in the rehabilitation program as a therapeutic activity in the process of making kobzar folk instruments,
- We will create an educational and therapeutic program for psychophysical rehabilitation based on the kobzar-lyrny tradition and its further popularization in the rehabilitation system of Ukraine.
- We continue to comprehensively contribute to the formation of a new kobzar tradition and the acquisition of new meanings in the life of every warrior who will be involved in this project.
- We will involve a wide range of veterans and our defenders in the process of reviving the kobzar-lyrnytsia tradition, which has been a UNESCO heritage site since 2025.
- The program includes:
- technical and physical activity aimed at restoring lost mobile functions of the body in the process of making kobzar musical instruments and other folk items;
- the psycho-emotional nature of the process of creating kobzar musical instruments, as a type of cultural and artistic activity, is enhanced by personal involvement in the spiritual heritage and historical memory that the kobzar-lyrnic tradition has preserved and continues to carry throughout the centuries;
- development and support of the system of stable values of the Ukrainian nation, as the basis for the formation of the culture of modern Ukraine. Here, the fact of the involvement of the soldiers who stood up to defend the state in the restoration of the traditions of the Ukrainian cultural and state-building heritage is important;
- conducting educational events, training classes and concerts. The purpose of these events is to raise awareness and reveal the depth of the historical, cultural and musical heritage, which is embodied in the kobzar-lyrny tradition.
